Born
in the 60s, in southern Africa within a colonial culture of English tea
and toast points, Tina Givens grew up within a large extended family,
rich with culture. Change is second nature for Tina, starting with the
move from Africa to Canada in 1982. College came next, which was
business and economics. By her own admittance, she was not a keen
scholar, and bored without accommodating her need to create, Tina
battled through. She graduated and fell into an advertising career
within a world re-known ad agency. However, not in the creative department, but as an account
executive managing accounts including Audi & Porsche. Strategy, and
clever marketing tactics became her business, and the start of her
career.
She met Kevin Givens, and they married in Toronto in 1990.

Moving on, the pair managed parallel careers, eventually bringing the couple to Cleveland Ohio. And several years later, having children. Tina and Kevin have three beautiful kids, including a set of twins, Tina took time off. Not resting on her laurels for long, an extreme multi-tasker, Tina had a desperate need to have her own 'something'. She picked up her pencil, brushes and pulled out the easel. Work for Kevin, took the family to North Carolina, where they currently reside, and Tina, again moved, and continued with her plan to launch a stationery collection. Thus the beginning of Cid Pear stationery.
Cid Pear launched into the market in 2004, and has proven to be an extremely successful company. Within a volatile and highly competitive industry, Cid Pear 'plonked' itself on the map as a solid paper manufacturer in direct competition with high profile names such as Vera Wang, Kate Spade, Anna Griffin and William Arthur. It's success? The art & design, naturally, but also, Tina's husband and partner, Kevin who mentors and guides Tina's career. Tina Givens is a multifaceted artist, with an unusual ability to create and adapt her art to several different medium & applications. Her watercolor art leaps off the printed paper as if each piece is individually hand-painted. Her watercolor work is detailed. Not a traditional watercolorist ~ Tina created a saturated, and more opaque method which allows her characters and florals to be injected with personality. Her sense of color is dramatically different and appears so in everything she does from her paper products to textile design and clothing design.
Tina Givens' art has been exposed to several creative and innovative companies around the world. With an invitation to join, Tina is ecstatic to be designing and painting for for a wide range of products including fabrics, paper products, photograph albums, ornaments and more. Her wish list is to design wall paper, designer rugs, & ribbons; and publish lifestyle books to encourage bringing art and individuality into everyones life.
